And when unexpected obstacles come up, I help solve those too. This work is personal to me, too. My husband and I have started planning our own downsizing earlier than most families do. Some of that comes from watching a parent go through a hard stretch in retirement, and knowing we want her closer, in our home, where we can help care for her. Some of it comes from wanting to do the hard work ourselves now, so our kids aren't left carrying it later.
